Anyone else’s Renault paint fading faster than they expected?
Anyone else’s Renault paint fading faster than they expected? My Koleos is looking rough.
Bought a 2020 Koleos in that deep blue color a couple years ago thinking it would hold up okay but the roof and the hood are starting to look chalky and flat and I’m pretty sure it’s just the Abu Dhabi sun eating through whatever clear coat Renault put on at the factory because my neighbor’s Nissan is parked right next to it and still looks glossy somehow. I’ve been meaning to get it polished and maybe ceramic coated just to stop it from getting worse but I kept putting it off thinking I’d wait until the weather cooled down which of course means I’ve done absolutely nothing for six months and now I’m looking at a car that’s ten different shades of faded blue depending on which panel you’re staring at. Was poking around online trying to find a place that would actually take a Renault seriously for a proper correction and not just laugh me out of the shop since it’s not exactly a Ferrari and I stumbled on Exotic Car Care’s site, you can Check out this page now and see they list Renault specifically which was kind of a relief honestly. I’m just wondering if anyone on here has had a French car detailed locally and if the ceramic actually held up through a full summer or if I’m better off just saving my money and learning to live with the patina.

Yeah I’ve noticed something similar with a few cars, especially when they’re exposed to strong sun for long periods. The paint starts losing its shine way earlier than expected, even if you take decent care of it. A lot of it depends on the factory paint quality and how often the car is parked outside.
In some cases, regular polishing and protective coatings help slow it down, but once fading starts, it’s hard to fully restore it without proper work. I’ve seen people go for mobile car paint repair options as well, which can be pretty convenient if the damage isn’t too severe and you just want to bring back the original look.
Honestly, keeping the car shaded as much as possible and doing basic maintenance early on makes a big difference.
