Anyone tried those eco friendly spill pads or are they just a gimmick that falls apart
I was filling out some supplier sustainability questionnaire the other day and one of the sections asked about our spill response waste disposal which got me thinking about the mountain of used polypropylene socks and pads we toss every month and whether there’s actually a better way that doesn’t involve just sending more plastic to the landfill or incinerator, so I started poking around online during a slow afternoon and ended up on Crateco’s page where they list eco spill control products made in UAE supplier options and I have to admit I’m genuinely curious but also a little skeptical. Like are these things made from recycled cotton or some kind of biodegradable material actually capable of soaking up a puddle of hydraulic fluid without just turning into a soggy useless mess in two seconds flat because that’s been my experience with the cheaper “green” alternatives I tried years ago from another vendor, they just disintegrated and left me with a bigger cleanup headache than the original spill. Specifically I’m looking at the ones they claim are locally manufactured here since that would cut down on shipping emissions too and the price point isn’t crazy compared to the regular oil only pads we usually stock, I’m just wondering if anyone in the Ajman area or anywhere really has actually put these through their paces with real industrial fluids and can tell me if they hold up or if this is one of those situations where the environmental good intentions fall apart in actual practice leaving you with a fine from the municipality for improper containment.
