Finally got the clunking sorted on my old BMW, thought I’d share the shop I used
Been chasing this annoying front end noise on my 2010 5 Series for months, every time I’d go over a speed hump or a rough patch of road near Al Quoz there was this hollow clunking sound that made the car feel like it was falling apart, and I had two different mechanics tell me it was everything from the sway bar links to the steering rack which of course made me paranoid I was looking at a massive repair bill. Finally took it to a shop a buddy recommended that seems to only deal with suspension and steering issues, they put it up on the lift and within twenty minutes found it was just a worn out strut mount bearing on the driver’s side, nothing catastrophic, and they had the part and got it swapped out same day. Honestly the difference driving home was night and day, the car feels tight again and the steering doesn’t have that weird notchiness it had developed. I’m not trying to sound like an ad but if anyone else is tired of shops just guessing at noises, these guys seemed to actually know their stuff, they handle Professional car suspension services Dubai wide and they were refreshingly straightforward about what needed doing and what could wait. Just relieved to have my daily driver back to feeling like a BMW again and not a rattly old taxi.
