My BMW transmission failed and the dealer quote made me sick – indie saved me
So my 2017 530i started having really harsh downshifts, especially in sport mode. Took it to the dealership and they said the whole mechatronic unit needs replacement – quoted me 18k. I almost cried. A friend told me to try an independent that focuses on BMW repair Dubai instead of the dealer. I found a shop that specializes in German cars and the owner there said 90 percent of the time it’s just worn solenoids and a faulty seal, not the whole unit. He rebuilt my mechatronic with upgraded parts, did a full service, and charged me 5k all in. The car shifts like new and he gave me a six month warranty. I cannot believe the price difference. I’m never stepping foot in a BMW dealer again for anything out of warranty. Anyone else had a similar experience where an indie shop fixed what the dealer wanted to replace?
