Took my 2015 V8 Vantage out for a nice early morning drive along the Corniche last Saturday before the traffic got mental and I was genuinely having a lovely time until that little orange engine shaped demon appeared on the dash right as I was turning onto Saadiyat Island and my entire mood just cratered instantly because owning an Aston out here is a constant negotiation between loving the noise it makes and being terrified of what the next bill might look like. The car wasn’t driving any differently no weird noises no loss of power just that stupid light staring at me and I spent the rest of the weekend googling worst case scenarios and convincing myself the catalytic converters were toast or the timing cover was leaking onto the coils again. I started asking around in a few local UAE car groups because the official dealer is a bit of a trek and their labor rate makes me physically flinch and a couple of guys with DB9s and Rapides mentioned they’ve been using a place for aston martin luxury car repair abu dhabi that actually has the proper diagnostic software to talk to these cars properly not just a generic OBD scanner that gives you some cryptic code and a shrug. Ended up booking it in and it turned out to be a slightly lazy O2 sensor on bank two that was reading a bit slow probably from the heat and a bit of oil blow by and they had it sorted in a day without trying to sell me a whole new exhaust system which was honestly the biggest relief I’ve felt in weeks. Now I can go back to just enjoying the noise and pretending I don’t notice the fuel gauge dropping in real time.
