The shop that refused my money because I bought the wrong oil – saved my engine

So I thought I was being smart. I bought what I thought was the right transmission oil online for my 2018 SQ5 and took it to a shop to do the change. The owner came out, looked at the bottle, and said “I can’t put this in your car.” I was annoyed at first thinking he just wanted to sell me his own oil. But then he spent ten minutes explaining that the oil I bought was for a different generation of DSG and had different friction properties. He showed me the specifications in the manual and compared them to the bottle. I was completely wrong. He ended up doing the service with the correct oil and charged me fairly. He told me that finding a Reliable Audi Oil Sharjah specialist means finding someone who cares more about your car than making a sale. I’ve been going back to him ever since. Anyone else had a shop save you from your own mistake like that? I’m so grateful he spoke up instead of just taking my money and ruining my transmission.

A shop owner refusing to use oil you already paid for because it would damage your transmission is exactly the kind of integrity that is genuinely rare. Most would just pour it in and let you discover the problem later.

Different DSG generations having incompatible friction properties is a real and specific technical issue that most customers would never know to check. That ten minute explanation was worth more than the service itself in terms of long term ownership knowledge.

Being annoyed first then realizing he saved your transmission is such a relatable sequence. The immediate frustration of being told you’re wrong is nothing compared to what a wrong fluid would have done to an SQ5 DSG.

Caring more about the car than making a sale is the simplest description of what separates a genuine specialist from someone just processing jobs. That owner earned years of loyalty with one honest conversation.

Finding a shop you can trust completely and going back every time is the best possible outcome from what started as an annoying situation. Those relationships are genuinely hard to find and worth protecting once you have one.
