The hot bang into third is the symptom I’d want properly investigated before agreeing to any parts replacement. That specific behavior under heat can point to a valve body issue rather than the clutches themselves which is a very different repair cost. A specialist who rebuilds mechatronic units rather than just swapping them will know the difference and won’t recommend the expensive option when the cheaper one is appropriate.
